Internships from CCS listing

JOURNALISM INTERNSHIPS - THE INSTITUTE FOR HUMANE STUDIES

An IHS Journalism Internship represents an exciting chance to gain
superior reporting skills. Placed at a Freedom Communications daily
newspaper, you will work as a journalist and try your hand at writing
features, reporting hard news, contributing opinion commentary, or
pursuing investigative stories. It's an opportunity for you to
increase your career options by getting an up-close look at life in a
newsroom. You'll also participate in an opening seminar that gives
you market-based tools to help understand today's most important
political and social problems. From day one, you'll build up a file
of clips vital to landing a job. Regular feedback on your work from
editors and your fellow journalists will strengthen your abilities.
And you'll develop a network of professional contacts that will help
you launch a career in journalism. This comprehensive 10-week program
includes: $1,500 stipend, Kick-off seminar retreat in the mountains
of Virginia, Three-day career development seminar in Washington DC, 9
weeks working in a newsroom, Travel and housing, Freelancing Workshop
and assistance, Career assistance through ongoing mentorship. Summer
2006: June 3 - August 12 Application deadline: January 31, 2005
