*West Austin News: The West Austin News is seeking a reporter to cover general news in the West Austin area. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and clips from a local weekly paper. We’re looking for someone to write three to six stories per week in this unpaid position. Some newspaper writing experience is preferred and photography may be required. *10X: Content Writing Internship As a member of the 10x Media writing team you will become a published writer with your own byline creating a quality portfolio. Interns have a personal editor who provides direct and personal feedback on every article written and submitted. By working with one of the fastest growing media companies on the Internet, you will create a presence for yourself on the Internet network. Upon completion of the internship students will be prepared for future writing and editing opportunities and will receive a $500 stipend. Students have an option of choosing an on-site or off-site writing internship. 10x Media has a nationwide off-site writing internship program which provides students and writers with an exceptional work experience with flexibility in time and location. The off-site writing internship is designed to provide a quality writing experience for interns allowing them to improve their qualifications as a writer and strengthen their portfolio. Interns are assigned article topics each week that will take them approximately 15-20 hours to complete. The articles are submitted and revised by in-house editors. After articles have been edited and revised they will be published with the writers byline. To finish the internship, writers must complete 150 articles. On-site interns have an opportunity to be a part of one of the greatest company cultures in the Provo/Orem area. Writers will come into the office for 20 hours a week and write assigned articles while working with and learning from the Content Manager and editors. *Earth & Sky: Earth & Sky seeks one or two smart, energetic, dedicatedindividuals to work closely with Earth & Sky's producers on ourradio show and website. We need help in fact-checking, web posting,proof-reading, internet research, and audio editing. Excellent grammar,HTML skills, and familiarity with AP style are welcome. A good "ear"for radio and a working knowledge of ProTools editing software are aplus. So are a good "eye" for beautiful illustrations and aworking knowledge of PhotoShop software. If the intern(s) shows anaptitude, he or she may also research and write a few short (90-second)radio scripts, about topics assigned by the Executive Producer and/ortopics found by independent researching and analysis of scientificand/or global events. But writing will not be a significantcomponent of this internship. There will be no on-air time for theintern(s). The intern(s) will work at least 10 hours per week in ouroffices in Austin, Texas. This position is not paid, but, ifdesired, Earth & Sky will work with the intern and his or heruniversity to insure course credit.
